Lindsay Lohan monitoring bracelet malfunctions

Lindsay Lohan's electric monitoring bracelet malfunctioned earlier this week, but the actress's rep has insisted that the star was not to blame for the error.
Lohan was sentenced to 35 days under house arrest in May after pleading no contest to stealing a $2,500 necklace from an LA boutique. 
One of the terms of Lohan's house arrest is that she must wear the monitoring device on her ankle at all times, but it went off on Monday while the actress was posing for photographs on her rooftop patio, TMZ reports.
Los Angeles police arrived on the scene sometime later to investigate and later issued Lohan a new monitoring bracelet.
One source close to the matter told the website that the error was likely caused after the device "missed a signal", not because Lohan had attempted to leave her home.
Lohan's official spokesperson Steve Honig claimed in a statement to the Los Angeles Times that the police arrived simply to follow up when the bracelet seemingly malfunctioned, saying: "[The police] came as part of standard procedure to make sure the monitoring equipment was working properly."
Lohan is also required to serve more than 400 hours of community service as part of her agreement.
