After romancing two of the three Khans in Bollywood (Aamir Khan in Ghajini and Salman Khan in London Dreams and Ready), Bollywood sensation and South Indian beauty Asin is all set to romance the third Khan, none other than Shahrukh Khan in his new film titled 2 States, a screen adaption of bestseller ’Two States’ written by Chetan Bhagat, reports said. According to sources, Asin has been chosen for the heroine’s role, because the lead female character in the novel is a Tamil. The film will be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Reportedly, Asin was the first choice of producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Vishal Bhardwaj. Asin is already working in Nadiadwala’s another production Housefull 2. 2 States chronicles around the life of a young couple Krish and Ananya, who belong to Delhi and Tamil Nadu respectively. They meet while studying at IIM, Ahmadabad. Their parents are against their ’cross cultural’ marriage.

Police have filed cases against actors Vadivelu and Kushboo, both campaigning for the ruling DMK alliance, based on complaints that they violated rules during their election campaigns. The Tiruvarur Police registered a case against Vadivelu for having spoken in a public meeting denigrating DMDK leader Vijayakanth thus promoting enmity, hatred and ill will between the cadres of two different parties in breach of the model code of conduct. The case was registered following a complaint lodged with the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu by Dileep Kumar, a high-power committee member of Vijayakanth’s DMDK, Chennai. Two cases have been filed against Kushboo in Theni district. In the first case, the actress allegedly disrupted traffic while campaigning. Popular South Indian character actor, villain and yesteryear hero Manoj K. Jayan, who had been given temporary custody of his daughter Kunjatta at the time of divorce from actress Urvashi, has appeared before the Kerala High Court on Wednesday in connection with a contempt of court case filed by Urvashi. Urvashi had requested the custody of Kunjatta for three days during Attukal Ponkala in February, but Manoj did not concede, prompting Urvashi to file the case. Manoj appeared before the court accompanied by his daughter. The Chief Justice talked to them in his chamber and Manoj expressed his willingness to hand over the child. Following this, the court directed the counsel of Urvashi to fix a convenient day. The case will come up for consideration on March 29. It is noteworthy that Manoj K. Jayan, who divorced Urvashi two years ago, recently married a Varkkala native Asha. -By Galatta

Popular Punjabi actress Navneet Kaur, who has worked in a number of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malyalam movies, will marry Ravi Rana, a politician and independent MLA from Badnera Constituency in Maharashtra, in the world’s largest mass marriage to be held at Amravati’s Science Core grounds on February 2. The legislator told reporters that about 2834 couples from different communities will also take wedding vows, creating a world record for the largest mass marriage. "They include visually challenged, handicapped, tribals as well as minorities," he added. Ravi Rana also said his fiancee Kaur will quit films and get into social work after marriage. Over five lakh guests, including yoga guru Baba Ramdev, top stars Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Sanjay Dutt are expected at attend the event.

Reportedly Tamil super star Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated computer animation film, earlier titled Sultan The Warrior and later changed to Hara, has now been renamed Raana. It is said that the last 30 minutes of the film will be in live action format and K.S. Ravikumar has been finalized to direct those sequences. There are also reports that actress Trisha will share screen space along with Rajni in the last 30 minutes of the film. Directed and produced by Rajinikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth, Raana is expected to grace screens worldwide in 2011. Music by Oscar winner A.R. Actress and playback singer Andrea Jermaiah, last seen on screen in Selvaraghavan’s ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ last year along with Reema Sen and Karthi, is making a comeback in Kollywood.
