National award winning actress Meera Jasmine, who has garnered over 35 awards in her filmi career of 10 years for her impressive performances in some of the best super hits in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, is likely to quit movies soon. One of the reasons behind her retirement from movies is said to be her upcoming marriage with her long time beau Mandolin Rajesh. Mandolin Rajesh, who belongs to an orthodox Hindu family in Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, announced in October 2010 that he would marry the actress in 2011. Another reason is her back-to-back debacles. The actress had a string of flops in Malayalam in the last two years: Minnaminikootam, Calcutta News, Ore Kadal, Pattinte Palazhi and Mohabbat. Her recent Tamil films Pen Singam and Ilanjian were too colossal flops. The buzz is that due to the failure of her films at the box office, no producer is willing to sign her up, forcing her to quit films.

These days, Chiranjeevi might be facing some strong brickbats with the decisions he takes but those who know him from his early days have a completely different perspective. Well, he is not a megastar by fate and they say he has few unique talents which is rare to find in others. Here is one such thing. Recently, a close friend of Chiru from many years who is also his drink buddy revealed “Chiru has got a special talent. Just with smell he will tell which brand of drink it is. And he can also predict whether it is real or fake in one sniff. Few times, we tried to check how true he is and shockingly, he was right at all times.” The friend added “This is a shocking talent Chiru has, no one knows how he does it. Many times it was proven right. Also, it is real fun when he is in his lighter moods and that he gets when we sit for a ‘session’. Right now, Chiru must be going through few hard times but these are few things for which he will always be remembered…”

The beauty actress Tapsee Pannu who has wooed the Kollywood audience in her debut film ’Aadukalam’. Tapsee signed for a Bollywood film. Tapsee is now making her Bollywood debut under the banner of Viacom18’s production with David Dhawan. The film is the remake of a classic comedy film ’Chashme Buddoor’. Film actress Jeevitha and her actor husband Dr Rajasekhar have been served a final notice by the city police to pay dues amounting to Rs 1 lakh for the protection they were given. The actor couple was given two personal security officers to guard them, but as is the practice, they have to pay a `user fee` for the protection. The city security wing has sent them 12 notices to pay the pending fee, which they have ignored. The city security wing deputy commissioner of police, R. B. Nayak, said that the exact dues amount to Rs 91,508. The actor couple was provided protection after they alleged they were getting threats from the fans of actor-politician Chiranjeevi as they had campaigned for the Congress in the 2009 polls. Former Praja Rajyam president and present leader Chiranjeevi is planning to start a news channel. As per indications, Praja Rajyam leader Ganta Srinivasa Rao had agreed to join Chiranjeevi to financially assist him in launching the news channel. So far, Congress had no channel on its own and Chiranjeevi is of the opinion to make it as a mouth piece of the Congress. According to reliable sources, the Praja Rajyam’s party office would be converted into the news channel’s office. If everything goes well the news channel may be launched during this year itself.

Popular Malayalam-Tamil actor Jayaram, who is completing 25 years in his acting career this year, was named for the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour on the eve of Republic Day on Tuesday. Speaking to media, Jayaram said that the news was first broken to him by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. He was shooting in Ramoji Rao Studios in Hyderabad for Rafi and Mecartin’s comedy multi-starrer China Town, starring Mohanlal, Dileep and Jayaram. "We were shooting a crucial scene in which Mohanlal had to whisper swear words in my ears in a comic manner. He came close to me and whispered the words ’Padma Shri Jayaram’ twice in my ear. I was taken aback and thought that he was pulling my leg! There was comic disbelief on my face and the director okayed the shot! Later, I came to know from Mohanlal that the news had just broken and television channels were flashing the news."

In the midst of contradicting reports stating that veteran Balakrishna is likely to be the hero in producer Bellamkonda Suresh’s proposed Telugu remake of Kollywood’s latest hit Kaavalan, it is now heard that the Telugu remake will have Gopichand as the hero. Kaavalan is a remake of Malayalam super hit Bodyguard, starring Dileep and Nayantara. Though the Tamil and Malayalam versions were directed by Siddique, the Telugu version will be directed by either Puri Jagannath or Ramesh Varma (Ride fame), it is said.

Nagarjuna is getting ready to sport six pack abs for his forthcoming socio-fantasy `Dhamarukam`. Directed by Srinivasa Reddy and produced by Venkat of RR Movie Makers, the movie also stars Anushka Sharma. The director said that Nag`s character in the film demands a hero with machismo; hence Nagarjuna is now working hard to build those six pack abs.

South Indian actress Tapasee, who is enjoying her share of name and fame in Tamil and Telugu films, has turned a Hindi project by Tollywood filmmaker Puri Jagannath. It is strange considering the fact that film starred Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and any South actress would die to have a role with Big B. Moreover, Tapasee was offered a meaty role in this Hindi film titled Buddha. Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is the producer of this film, which will have Big B in the lead role.
